Thian Rodriguez has a background in fashion design, multimedia application, and theatre arts. Thian’s concepts are rooted in his love of art, besides his relentless desire for identity and change. Edgy and modern, Thian’s designs always have a story behind each collection. Thian represented the Philippines at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS), a festival of emerging designers organised by the British Council and the British Fashion Council during London Fashion Week. Thian’s Monochroma Spring/Summer 2016 collection is inspired by the great American artist Jackson Pollock known for his abstract expressionist movement of drip paintings, combined with the designer’s passion for anything Japanese. The Sakura (or cherry blossoms) is a symbol of simplicity and mysterious beauty. With the combination of the two, Thian’s creations becomes absolutely stunning.
